Key points

  • A7A5 recorded 18 transfers on Ethereum and 14 on Tron in 24 hours, down from around 600 a day before the strikes
  • The token's market cap is about $455m-$482m, but daily trading volume has fallen to between zero and roughly $1,500
  • A7A5 blamed "scheduled" and then "technical" work for suspended services, and users reported unpaid interest since 9 Oct

Ukrainian drone strikes on Yandex data centres have disrupted the Russian A7A5 stablecoin, according to blockchain analysis firm Elliptic. On the night of 7-8 Oct, drones hit a Yandex data centre in Sasovo, and another Yandex facility was struck the same week. A7A5 is a ruble-pegged token on Ethereum and Tron built to evade Western sanctions.

Elliptic co-founder Tom Robinson found A7A5 transactions collapsed immediately after the strikes. Etherscan showed about 17,600 holders on Ethereum and 18 transfers in 24 hours, while Tron had more than 30,700 holders and 14 transfers. Before the attacks, the figure was around 600 transfers a day. Trading volume now ranges from zero to about $1,500 daily, against a market cap of roughly $455m to $482m.

A7A5's Telegram channels said on 8 Oct that services might be unavailable because of scheduled technical work, then described technical problems the next day. On 14 Oct the company said it expected to resume operations soon. Users also said interest had not been paid since 9 Oct, and the company promised to pay the full amount owed.

A7A5 is issued in Kyrgyzstan by A7 LLC and claims backing from deposits at the sanctioned Russian state bank Promsvyazbank. Robinson said its main use is bridging rubles to Tether's USDT through the issuer's own exchange, hosted by Yandex since Sep 2025.

What to watch: A7A5 said on 14 Oct that it expected to resume operations soon, with no date given.
