What is Market Cap?

Market Cap: a crypto term, explained in plain English.

In one line

The total value of a coin: its price multiplied by the number of coins in circulation. Used to rank cryptocurrencies by size.

In simple words

Imagine a jar of 100 marbles, and each marble sells for 2 rupees. The whole jar is worth 200 rupees.

Market cap is the value of the whole jar.

The technical side

Market capitalisation = current price × circulating supply. Bitcoin, with nearly 20 million coins in circulation, has the largest. “Fully diluted value” instead uses the maximum supply, including coins not yet issued.

A high market cap does not mean the money is there to be taken out: thin trading can make large holders unable to sell at the quoted price. See the total crypto market cap on our Markets page.

Market Cap kya hai?

Market cap = coin ka daam × kitne coins bazaar mein hain. Isse pata chalta hai kaunsa coin kitna bada hai.

Not investment advice. Crypto tokens can lose all their value. Read the risk disclaimer.
