Mastercard has announced Open USD, or OUSD, a stablecoin built on Solana that it says will shorten cross-border payment times and make transaction fees clearer. Visa, Coinbase, Stripe and Shopify are partners in the project.
The story so far: Open Standard OUSD stablecoin launch
Open Standard launched OUSD with Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe and Visa as founding partners, and Stripe adopted it for corporate payments. Stripe's Global Payouts now lets eligible US businesses send USDC and OUSD to external crypto wallets in over 160 markets, in public preview.
