Ripple heads to Seoul as Korean banks join XRP event

Ripple is heading to Seoul for an XRP event that will bring together its executives and several of South Korea's largest financial institutions, U.Today reports. XRP Seoul is scheduled for October 3, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt Seoul, during Korea Blockchain Week.
Ripple president Monica Long and RippleX senior vice president Markus Infanger are set to take part in discussions about the future of digital finance. The event will also feature sessions with Kyobo Securities, a major Korean securities broker, Woori Bank, one of the country's top four banks, and Kakao Bank, its leading internet bank linked to the Kakao platform.
Hussein Zangana, known as Vet and director of community at the XRP Ledger Foundation, said the sessions would focus on tokenisation, payments on crypto rails and DeFi. He wrote that he was looking forward to XRP Seoul and described the participating institutions as forward leaning in those areas.
Seoul event lineup
The speaker lineup extends well beyond Ripple's own staff. It includes J.A. Akinyele, RippleX head of engineering, and Christina Chan, senior director of ecosystem growth at Ripple, along with Tatsuya Kohrogi, Jinnie Lee and others from the company. Outside Ripple, participants include Anchored Finance chief executive Wenny Cai, Soil co-founder Nicholas Motz, Datavault AI chief executive Nathaniel T. Bradley and Biconomy founder Aniket Jindal.
Further names on the list include Jeonbuk Bank team leader Mansik Yoon, Tria chief strategy officer John Lilic, Wellbianlabs founder and chief executive Sunghwan Kim, Evernorth chief executive Asheesh Birla and Ondo Finance managing director Min Lin. Kyobo Securities executive director Heejin Shin, FlareNetworks co-founder Hugo Philion, Kbank TF lead Jaehyuk Choi, Creder chief executive Bo Kim, Kakao Bank manager Leo Lee and Woori Bank senior manager Seunghoon Han are also expected.
The event comes during a busy October for the XRP Ledger. The Batch and fixBatchV1_2 amendments are set to launch in the coming month, with mainnet activation eyed for October 9, 2026. The permissions delegation amendment is expected to launch on October 8, 2026, provided the proposals sustain above 80% support for the two-week activation window.
Korean banks take part
The Swell event, described as a major gathering for the XRP and Ripple ecosystem, is expected to be held from October 27 to 29, 2026. Together with XRP Seoul, the schedule puts Korean banks and Ripple's leadership in the same room at a time when the network is preparing technical changes.
