In simple words
Imagine you have lots of toys, and each one needs its own charger. MCP is like one universal charger. With one plug, an AI can connect to many apps and tools.
The technical side
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard introduced by Anthropic in November 2024. An MCP server exposes tools, data or prompts; an MCP client, inside an AI app, connects to it. A developer builds one MCP server for a tool and every MCP-compatible app can use it, instead of writing a separate connection for each AI product.
MCP has since been adopted by other AI companies and developer tools, and it is a common way to give AI agents access to real systems.
MCP kya hai?
