Paul McCarty says malicious Claude Code VS Code extension was published to Open VSX

Security researcher Paul McCarty said Anthropic's Claude Code VS Code extension was tampered with on 30 Oct, with a malicious version 2.1.313 published to the Open VSX registry carrying a 66-line loader. He said only the Open VSX version analysed was confirmed malicious and a threat report was filed for the same version on Microsoft's marketplace.
