The Depository Trust Company, a subsidiary of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, has launched a tokenisation service that lets eligible clients mint tokenised representations of securities held at DTC, Cointelegraph reports. The DTCC Tokenization Service converts between traditional and tokenised forms of securities that can be moved to digital wallets.
The company said the tokens keep the same ownership rights and investor protections as the traditional securities.
DTCC said the launch creates a "practical path" for tokenised securities to be adopted. The service is integrated with Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network, and the company plans to add further blockchain networks in 2027.
The launch follows regulatory groundwork.
What to watch: DTCC has said it plans a full service launch for trading tokenised securities in October 2026, following a pilot in July 2026.
