Cardano down 68% over a year as October record offers little comfort
U.Today reports ADA has lost 68% in a year and fallen in six of the past eight Octobers, while the network pushes its Node 11.1.2 update and Dijkstra integration.
Key points
- Cardano is down 68% on a one-year basis, according to CoinGecko data cited by U.Today.
- ADA fell from $0.954 in September 2025 to $0.138 in June 2026, losing the weekly MA 50 at $0.451.
- Only two of the past eight Octobers closed positive for ADA since 2018.
- At the time of writing ADA was down 3.22% in 24 hours at $0.247.
- Intersect says service providers and node operators should update to Node 11.1.2, released on 17 September.
Cardano's ADA token is down 68% over the past year, U.Today reports, citing data from CoinGecko. The outlet notes that the one-year timeframe is the only one showing notable losses, with the token in the green across the 7, 14 and 30-day windows.
The decline ran from September 2025 to June 2026, a stretch in which ADA closed higher in only one month, April 2026. U.Today says the price fell from $0.954 in September 2025 to $0.138 in June 2026, a move that also cost the weekly MA 50 at $0.451. Since July the token has rebounded and is on track for a third straight month of gains if September closes positive.
Attention now turns to October, which is generally seen as a positive month for crypto assets. Cardano's own record tells a different story, according to the outlet: ADA fell more than 17% in October 2018, then rose 6.19% in October 2019. It fell 8.27% in October 2020 and 7% in October 2021, was down 6.22% in October 2022, up 15.35% in October 2023, down 8.82% in October 2024 and down 24.42% in October 2025. That makes only two positive Octobers out of eight since 2018.
A year of heavy losses
U.Today says a sustained reversal would probably need more than a favourable seasonal pattern. Buyers would have to take control again, with stronger trading volume and a run of higher highs and higher lows offering confirmation that momentum is improving. At the time of writing, ADA was down 3.22% in 24 hours at $0.247, as crypto bulls paused after a strong rally over the past week.
Investors this week are watching a packed macro calendar, the outlet reports, including PCE inflation, ISM manufacturing and nonfarm payrolls. Those releases could shape expectations for Federal Reserve rate moves and influence the wider market.
On the network side, U.Today reports that Intersect says the priority for stake pool operators and node operators remains updating to Node version 11.1.2, while Dijkstra integration continues. Node 11.1.2 was released on 17 September as an essential fix for an issue found on testnet. It is not a hard fork-ready release, but the outlet describes it as an important milestone for early impact assessment and integration work.
October's mixed record
Haskell and Dingo are already producing blocks on Mainnet, according to the report, while Amaru and Gerolamo are making progress towards doing the same. The combination of a weak yearly price performance and ongoing node work leaves ADA's near-term direction tied to both market sentiment and the pace of the upgrade effort.
